Centennial opened their county season at home against a bruising and slick passing Howard HS. Against the run of play Centennial opened the scoring when Carolina Pellegrini slipped inside the defense and found the back of the net. Olivia Antonelli doubled the lead when her diagonal down the left channel was spotted by Lauren Pellegrini who slid in a measured ball that attracted her teammate as well as the Howard fullback and g'keeper. The 'keeper and fullback clattered into one another while Olivia nimbly skipped around the collision, collected the ball and finished w/ composure! Sarah Sopchick's far post run midway through the second half got Centennial's third. Howard laid seige to Centennial's goal but goalkeeper Ashley Bilger recorded 12 saves and nearly preserved the clean sheet but Howard was able to reduce the arrears w/their only goal in the 71st minute. Centennial saw the game out 3-1. The halftime score was 2-nil. Congratulations and well done!
